SIALKOT – Pakistani and Indian soldiers witnessed a rare gesture on Tuesdaywhen the troops exchanged sweets at Chakkan Da Bagh, near the Poonch area.
The sweets were exchanged as Pakistan and India celebrated Independence Dayon August 14th and 15th respectively with national fervor and jubilance.
The soldiers, clad in their military outfits, also posed for a picture withthe backdrop of flags, which was uploaded on the social media and waswidely hailed by the political commentators.
The troops on both sides of the border, and especially across the Line ofControl keep on exchanging fire, however, sweets replaced the aggression afew days ago, for a few moments.
Scores of people from both the sides gathered at the Wagha border crossingsand other borders to cheer up their forces which have been locked in aconstant tiff ever since the Sub-continent was partitioned in 1947.
Both the countries have deliberated upon exchanging sweets on a regularbasis, however, the plan could not be materialized owing to the influenceof hardliners and ultra-nationalist factions.
