China offers Afghanistan to join Pakistan China CPEC project

KABUL – President Ashraf Ghani and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping metin Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Thursday, pledging joint efforts to promotebilateral relations.

Xi congratulated Afghanistan on the 100th anniversary of its independenceand wished the country an early restoration of peace, stability, anddevelopment, China’s Xinhua news agency reported on June 14.

China and Afghanistan are neighbors that enjoy traditional friendship andstrategic partnership of cooperation, Xi said.

He said China is willing to deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation withAfghanistan in various sectors within the framework of the Belt and RoadInitiative (BRI), steadily promote practical cooperation in economy andtrade, and support the two countries’ enterprises to strengthen cooperationbased on the principles of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.

Xi said China will, as always, continue to help Afghanistan build itscapacity in fighting terrorism and maintaining stability.

He called on the Afghan side to continue to firmly support China in itsfight against the terrorist force of East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM).

The Chinese side firmly supports a comprehensive and inclusive Afghan-ledand Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process and will continue toactively encourage and promote talks through various channels to help theAfghan people achieve internal dialogue, Xi said as quoted by Xinhua.

The Chinese president said his country supports Afghanistan and Pakistan toimprove relations, enhance mutual trust and carry out cooperation and isready to further promote the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan trilateralcooperation.
