Sharif family trouble increases as NAB case enters last stage

ISLAMABAD – Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law retiredcaptain Mohammad Safdar verdict from the NAB Court is expected in comingweeks as the case has entered the finals stage.

They will record their statements in the Avenfield reference at theaccountability court on Friday.

The three accused will be provided with a list of questions regarding thecase, said the court on Wednesday. The remaining two accused, Sharif’s sonsHussain and Hassan Nawaz, have been declared absconders.

The court decided to initiate the process under Section 342 of the CriminalProcedure Code (CrPC) in which the accused is given an opportunity todefend himself/herself before issuance of the final verdict aftertestimonies and cross-examinations of all prosecution witnesses werecompleted.

Accountability Judge Mohammad Bashir will formulate the questions forSharif, Maryam and Safdar as an advanced intimation to their statementsunder Section 342 of the CrPC.
