ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured the federal cabinet andthe nation that the government’s crackdown against terrorists will continueand the menace of terrorism will soon be eliminated.
This was stated by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry FawadHussain in Islamabad this afternoon while briefing media persons on cabinetmeeting, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad [Tuesday].
The Minister said the government is fast moving on implementation ofNational Action Plan, and it is not far when terrorism will be eradicatedfrom the country.
He said external factors are involved in the terrorist incidents in thecountry, and the government is close to completely destroy thatinfrastructure.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the cabinet decided to further discuss AssetDeclaration Scheme, and a meeting to this effect has been convened by thePrime Minister tomorrow.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain informed the media that Prime Minister Imran Khanwill launch landmark Housing Scheme tomorrow.
He said under the first phase, 135,000 apartments will be constructed.
The Information Minister said it has been decided that recruitments ingovernment departments from scale one to five will henceforth be madethrough balloting.
He said working of Federal Public Service Commission will be improved andthe Establishment Division has been given the task to revamp the testingservice companies.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Pakistan Steels Mills will be revamped, and sixcompanies have showed interest in the plan. He said for the time being, thePSM will be run on public private partnership mode.
The Minister said the capacity of the office of Auditor General of Pakistanwill be enhanced, and Advisor on Institutional Reforms and Austerity Dr.Ishrat Husain has been given the task to present recommendations for it intwo months.
The Minister said Lok Virsa has been assigned to establish cultural andmedia centers at Kartarpur.
About the ongoing accountability process, the Minister said it willcontinue and law will take its course. He said the current crisis-likeeconomic condition has been caused by the corruption of the last twogovernments.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the cabinet has also approved to amend thePakistan Penal Code for the extradition of Pakistani citizens livingabroad, especially in European countries, and wanted in Pakistan.He said itis an effort to bring back people like Altaf Hussain, Ishaq Dar, HussainNawaz, and Hassan Nawaz.
