ISLAMABAD – *The Supreme Court removed State Minister for InformationMarriyum Aurangzeb from a committee that selects the PEMRA chairperson onMonday.*
“She is very busy giving statements to the media,” said Chief Justice SaqibNisar, heading the three-member bench, while hearing the media commissioncase. “What does the information minister have to do with the selection ofthe PEMRA committee?” remarked the CJ. “The committee cannot be independentas long as she is a member.”
The information secretary will replace Aurangzeb on the committee. Thecourt ordered the committee to finalise the name of the PEMRA chairpersonwithin three weeks.
“What would you call someone who sends women to protest against thejudiciary?” said the CJP. “If they had any honour, the men would be comingforward.
