ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday has hit out againstthose raising slogans against the Judiciary after life timedisqualification verdict.
He remarked that slogans of ‘Long dead judiciary’ were raised afterdisqualification case.
His remarks came during the hearing of media commission case in SupremeCourt.
Expressing resentment, the CJP said that women are bring forward as ashelter however; they would have come at forefront themselves if had anyhonour.
During the hearing, additional attorney general Rana Waqar told court thatthe government has formed a seven-member committee for the selection ofchairmen Pemra which constitutes of prominent journalist and chairman PBA.
The commission will choose three-member panel for the chairman Pemra inthree weeks.
The Chief Justice remarked that the process will take much time. “Theurgent issue is of the appointment of chairman Pemra,” replied Waqar.
“We also don’t want to work against the law. An honest person should assumethe office of chairman Pemra,” urged the CJP.
“Article 5 of Pemra law is quite open,” added Justice Ijazul Ahsan.
“If the judiciary is weakened, media will also have the same affect. If uorstance is not accurate then you should also stop speaking. We cannot advisethe lawmakers for amendment in the law,” said the CJP
