Death toll from Coronavirus significantly rises across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has reported 58 deaths in the last 24 hours by novelcoronavirus as the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 13,595 onTuesday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and OperationCenter (NCOC) 2,511 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24hours as the number of positive cases has surged to 609,964.

The total count of active cases is 23,355 and the positivity rate increasesup to 7.11 per cent. In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,136 patients haverecovered from the virus in a day and 1,895 patients are still in criticalcondition.

A total of 35,303 tests were conducted across the country during thisperiod. Overall 573,014 people have recovered from the deadly disease sofar while 9,565,066 samples have been tested thus far.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of casesfollowed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.

Till now 261,582 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 188,225 inPunjab 76,379 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 48,495 in Islamabad, 19,233 inBalochistan, 11,089 in Azad Kashmir and 4,961 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore 5,812 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic inPunjab 4,461 in Sindh, 2,169 in KP, 526 in Islamabad, 322 in Azad Kashmir,202 in Balochistan, and 103 in GB.
