WELLINGTON – A Pakistani origin man who tried to disarm Australia-borngunman during an active shooting at a mosque in New Zealand lost his lifedue to indiscriminate firing.
Naeem Rashid tried overpowering the shooter identified as Brenton Tarrantafter he had entered the mosque, however, he was left badly wounded duringthe attempt – aimed at protecting fellow worshippers.
Naeem, who is being praised on a global scale for displaying matchlessdefiance and resilience, was rushed to the hospital, however, he lost hislife according to a private TV channel.
Naeem Rashid hails from Abbottabad city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistanand also worked with a private bank before migration to Christchurch.
In the tragic turn of events, Rashid’s 21-year-old son, Talha also lost hislife during the shooting spree, branded terrorist activity by thegovernment of New Zealand and being denounced by global leaders.
Earlier, Pakistan’s High Commission in Wellington had confirmed fourPakistani-origin men were wounded and five others were missing after theFriday’s carnage.
