ISLAMABAD – The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has demanded that TheFederal Board of Revenue (FBR) be ordered to stop raiding registeredbusiness premises immediately and put an end to harassing the businesscommunity.
After the Chairman of FBR, Dr. Jahanzeb Khan announced that they would notbe raiding the business community at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers ofCommerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Saturday. However, the FBR did in factbegin raiding the businessmen after they had failed to file tax returns inthe expected time.
Daroo Khan the president of FPCCI stated that the raid was not only limitedto those businessmen who failed to pay but also those that paid after thedeadline.
The FBR Chairman had also extended the deadline till March 31 of tax returnfiling and had asked businessmen to respond to the notice on time. In orderto get the businessmen to get in touch with the FBR the Chairman announceda constitute liaison committee.
