RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visitedtraining area in Thar Desert near Chhor, Pakistan Army’s media wing said onMonday.
According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations(ISPR) Directorate, COAS witnessed ongoing training exercise wherein theoperational capability of field formations operating in desert is beingtested in near battlefield environment.
The training exercise Jidar Ul Hadeed involves integrated maneuvers ofinfantry and mechanized forces in a defensive role.
On arrival in the field area, COAS was given detailed briefing by exercisecommander on the aim and objectives of ongoing exercise anddrills/procedures being practiced to ensure complete dominance of thebattlefield.

The troops have been undergoing this exercise under strenuous fieldconditions for over two weeks which will culminate on 28 Feb.
While lauding the standard of training of participating troops, COASexpressed his complete satisfaction over operational preparedness andcombat readiness of the formation. Vigorous training and highest standardof preparedness in peacetime are the only guarantors of peace, COASemphasised.
Earlier, on arrival at exercise area, COAS was received by Corps CommanderLieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum.
