Pakistan and Iran to enhance defence cooperation

ISLAMABAD – Recent days have witnessed enhanced defence and military tiesbetween Pakistan and Iran that started off after the crucial visit of theChief of Army Staff General Qamar Jawaid Bajwa to Iran where he met withthe top Iranian civil and military leadership and removed themisunderstandings between the two brotherly countries.

Now Pakistan and Iran have agreed to enhance cooperation in the defencesector. The understanding was reached at a meeting between Minister forDefence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain and Iranian Defence MinisterBrigadier General Amir Hatami in Tehran on Tuesday.

Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted the great potential that exists betweenthe two countries for cooperation in various sectors, including defence.

The Iranian Defence Minister underscored that close relationship betweenPakistan and Iran will contribute to the stability of the region.

He also called for greater exchange between defence establishments of thetwo countries and to explore opportunities for cooperation in defenceindustries.

Rana Tanveer Hussain also visited the Export Promotion Centre of IranianMinistry of Defence.
