QUETTA – Balochistan’s former home minister Nawabzada Gazain Marri has madean important announcement regarding his future courses of action andpolitics in Balochistan.
He has announced to quit separatist and nationalist politics.
The son of the late Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri sayshe will now join mainstream politics, which “is the only way to serve thepeople of the province [Balochistan] and Pakistan.”
Speaking during a gathering in Golarchi on Tuesday, the Baloch leader saidhe will first meet his supporters living in various parts of the countrybefore deciding about the future political course.
Gazain Marri hoped that justice would be served to him in the cases filedagainst him, adding that “these cases are politically motivated”.
He was of the view that the various projects under the China PakistanEconomic Corridor (CPEC) would bring prosperity in Balochistan and otherprovinces, the Dawn News reported.
He, however, warned the government if people of smaller provinces do notreceive benefits from CPEC projects there would “certainly be a lot ofuproar.”
Last October, the Balochistan High Court (BHC) had ordered Marri’s release,who was arrested in the previous month under Section 3 of Maintenance ofPublic Order and alleged murder of Justice Nawaz Marri, a judge of theBalochistan High Court, in 2000.
He was arrested in Quetta last month upon his return to Pakistan from theUnited Arab Emirates after an 18-year long self-imposed exile.
Ghazain Marri is the younger brother of Balach Marri, the deceased leaderof the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a terrorist group involved inseparatist activities.
Now the BLA is reportedly being handled by Hyrbyair Marri, who is also abrother of the Ghazain Marri.
