Taking a swipe at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), a former coalition partner, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), once again voiced his concerns about an uneven political playing field for his party ahead of the upcoming general elections in the country. He stressed that his grievances primarily revolve around one specific party.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore after the PPP's Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting, Bilawal reiterated his demand for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to promptly announce the election date. He clarified, "The concerns about a lack of a level-playing field pertain to one party. Hopefully, when all our issues are resolved, I will speak more openly."

Bilawal mentioned that his party has reservations about the elections and other matters, and the PPP's CEC has authorized PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari to take appropriate actions in this regard. In an indirect reference to the PML-N, he stated that a political party, in collaboration with General (retd) Shuja Pasha and former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, had "conspired to remove PPP from the political landscape in Punjab."

However, he acknowledged that the PPP had paid a political price for what he described as a "political mistake," noting, "An ally seeks our help when they are in trouble, but when they recover, they turn against us."
