Former PM Khaqan Abbasi prediction about NAB came true

Responding to the Supreme Court's decision to invalidate amendments to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Act, former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed his longstanding position during an exclusive interview with ARY News.

Abbasi emphasized that he had previously advocated for the dissolution of the National Accountability Bureau, and he believed that the consequences of facing corruption charges would now be borne by all. He firmly asserted that he had warned that progress in the country would be hampered as long as NAB remained in existence.

During the interview, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi reiterated his proposal to expedite the proceedings of corruption cases against the ruling party on a daily basis. He lamented that his recommendations had gone unheard in the past, and now, he believed that the nation would have to bear the repercussions of those decisions.

Abbasi further asserted that the cases to be filed would primarily target politicians, criticizing the NAB as an institution that had been in operation for 24 years but had failed to secure convictions in numerous corruption cases. In his critique of the National Accountability Bureau, the former Prime Minister branded it as a completely ineffective institution that would only bring disaster to the country.

He highlighted the absence of significant convictions in the corruption cases handled by NAB over the years, suggesting that this reflected its inability to fulfill its intended role. Abbasi's statements underscored his longstanding concerns about NAB's impact on the political landscape and governance in Pakistan.
