Two passenger planes escaped disaster at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Saturday as birds collided with both the aircraft while landing.
A bird hit the Qatar Airways flight QR-610 coming from Doha to Karachi while it was trying to land at runway 25L. The bird struck the engine number 2 of the plane which was carrying 150 passengers.
In the second incident, a bird also hit a PIA flight coming from Sukkur to Karachi. The bird struck the plane at a height of 2,500 feet during landing.
The CAA’s relevant department has issued guidelines for pilots to observe precautions while taking off and landing at the Karachi Airport, said sources.
