The draft for the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to occur on December 14 in Lahore, immediately following the conclusion of the National T20 Cup.
On Tuesday, a meeting of the HBL PSL governing council was held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. Chaired by Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, the meeting involved representatives from all six HBL PSL franchises and PCB officials. The discussions were comprehensive, addressing operational and logistical aspects of the upcoming PSL9 edition.
In light of the general election scheduled for February 2024, there was a unanimous decision to seek formal advice from the government of Pakistan to determine the exact dates and venues for HBL PSL9.
The PCB will initiate this process by formally writing to the interior ministry for guidance. The key question is whether hosting PSL 9 in Pakistan during the election period is feasible or if relocation, potentially to the UAE, is necessary. The final decision on the venue will depend on the government's directive.
As of now, the ninth edition is tentatively scheduled to take place from 8 February to 24 March 2024.
