The Lahore High Court (LHC) has instructed the closure of all educational institutions, including schools and colleges, every Saturday due to the persistent smog affecting Punjab.
This directive was issued during a hearing addressing the escalating smog levels in the province. Justice Shahid Kareem of the LHC noted that smog has extended beyond Lahore and now covers the entire Punjab region.
Both government and private institutions are mandated to implement a work-from-home policy twice a week. Justice Karim emphasized a complete shutdown of schools and colleges on Saturdays.
The case hearing has been adjourned until November 17, highlighting that despite recent rainfall, the air quality in Punjab hasn't significantly improved.
