The Taliban and Afghan Government's negotiators, who met in Qatar, have emphasised need to speed up the peace talks in Doha.
The negotiating team representing the Afghan government said on Twitter the two sides also discussed the on-going situation in the country.
The spokesman for the Taliban, Mohammad Naeem, in a tweet said both sides have agreed to continue talks after the Eid holidays.
Earlier, the Taliban refused to attend a Washington-backed conference in Turkey last month that was being held in a bid to speed up peace talks.
The event was later indefinitely postponed.
