Election Commission to experiment voting through biometric and electronic system

ISLAMABAD: Electoral Reforms Apex Committee has decided in the meeting here at Tuesday that voter lists, having women images will not be given to candidates participating in the elections process. 

 

As per details, Interior secretary and NADRA chairman have been summoned by Electoral Reforms Committee over the issue of not giving soft copies of voter’s lists to candidates.

 

The meeting said that Election Commission will soon conduct experiment of voting through biometric and electronic system.

 

It has been decided by electoral apex committee that only the voter lists of men will be given to the candidates while only Presiding officers will be given women voter lists and the date of publication on voter lists will also be mentioned.

 

The formation of Electoral Reforms Act has entered in its last phase as Committee Chairman said that the experiment of voting through internet and cellular phone will be held soon.

 

The committee asked election commission to issue tender to purchase the biometric and electronic voting machines. A report has also been presented in the meeting regarding the matter of oversees Pakistanis voting system.
