Scholarship of 207 million for 2140 students of Islamia University

ISLAMABAD-Scholarships of more than 207 million have been granted to 2140 students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur under Prime Minister's Ehsaas Scholarship Program. Vice-Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr Prof Dr Athar Mahboob while talking to APP here Monday said that students were selected for the scholarship through a transparent process to ensure merit.
He said that list of selected students was available at the university website. The students have been asked to stay in touch with National Bank of Pakistan for disbursement of stipend.
He said that 890 students of the university are entitled to the Higher Education Commission's Need-Based Scholarship of up to the tune of Rs 60 million. He further added that scholarships of Rs 20 million have been given to 200 university students in collaboration with Pakistan Baitul-Maal.
To a question, Vice-Chancellor said that the university was devising a mechanism for assessments of students under the guidelines provided by the Higher Education Commission and Higher Education Department Punjab. He said that the interest of students will be safeguarded and their academic performance will not be affected.
