Former captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has said that Waqar Younis’ statement regarding Babar Azam’s injury shows a sign of weakness.

Waqar Younis while talking to journalists in a press conference admitted that Babar’s injury is a major setback for the national team. He said that the opposition teams fear Babar Azam and his injury came at the wrong time for the Pakistan team. ------------------------------

Babar suffered a fractured thumb during a practice session on Sunday and has been ruled out of the T20I series while his participation in the first Test is also in doubt.

Inzamam was not happy with the bowling coach’s statement and said that this shows a sign of weakness and low morale, which can be exploited by New Zealand.

“I was surprised to see the team management saying openly that Babar’s injury happened at the wrong time” Inzamam said.

He added “when you admit something like this, it gives an edge to the opposition. I didn’t like this statement.”

Inzamam believes that Babar will not be fit to take part in the first Test as well. He said that the doctors have advised at least 12 days rest to Babar and the first test is scheduled to begin on 26th December, which gives Babar only one day of practice. Coming back from a fractured thumb and playing straight away won’t be possible.
