ISLAMABAD (APP): The embassies and high commissions of Pakistan in various countries Sunday celebrated the 70th Independence Day of the country with patriotic fervour and remembering the martyrs of the Pakistan Movement.
Pakistan's High Commissioner in India Abdul Basit, High Commissioner to UK Syed Ibne Abbas, Ambassador to Afghanistan Syed Abrar Hussain, Ambassador to China Masood Khalid, Ambassador to Tokyo Farukh Amil, High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Maj Gen (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain, Ambasssador to Thailand Dr Sohail Khan, Ambassador to Tehran Asif Ali Khan Durrani, Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood, Ambassador to France Moinul Haque, Ambassador to Germany Jauhar Saleem, High Commissioner to Malaysia Syed Hassan Raza, Ambassador of Pakistan to Lebanon Aftab Khokher, Ambassador to Nepal Mazhar Javed, Pakistan High Commissioner to Canada Tariq Azim Khan, Acting Consul General at Pakistan Consulate at Dubai Samar Javed and Cd'A in Abu Dhabi Dr Faisal Aziz hoisted the national flags in impressive ceremonies at their respective stations also
marking the playing of national anthem.
Huge gatherings of Pakistani community turned out to celebrate the auspicious occasion wherein the students and youngsters sang national songs and presented tableaus, according to messages received here.
Amid the pleasures of Independence Day celebrations, the Pakistani expatriates did not forget their brethren in Indian Occupied Kashmir and demanded the peaceful resolution of the dispute in light of the UN resolutions calling for a plebiscite.
In their address, the envoys also reiterated Pakistan's resolve to continue extending political, diplomatic and moral support to the oppressed people of Pakistan.
They also read out the messages of the President and Prime Minister issued on the occasion of Independence Day.
The envoys also apprised the audience about the services of their respective offices for the welfare of Pakistani communities abroad.
They said Pakistan always desired friendly and cordial ties with all states in multiple fields, particularly mentioning the ongoing execution of China Pakistan Economic Corridor which would enhance regional linkages to usher in a new era of progress and prosperity not only in the country but also the whole region.
They highlighted the achievements of the government in various sectors including economy, health, education, infrastructure and above all for revival of peace in the country.
Talking about the anti-terror operation Zarb-e-Azb, the envoys said it was coming to fruition and reiterated that the government and people of Pakistan were determined to root out this menace from their soil.
Prayers were also held for the martyrs of Quetta terrorist attack.
