Former Skipper Inzamam ul Huq hits out at Waqar Younis over his statement regarding Babar Azam injury

Former captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has said that Waqar Younis’ statementregarding Babar Azam’s injury shows a sign of weakness.

Waqar Younis while talking to journalists in a press conference admittedthat Babar’s injury is a major setback for the national team. He said thatthe opposition teams fear Babar Azam and his injury came at the wrong timefor the Pakistan team.——————————

Babar suffered a fractured thumb during a practice session on Sunday andhas been ruled out of the T20I series while his participation in the firstTest is also in doubt.

Inzamam was not happy with the bowling coach’s statement and said that thisshows a sign of weakness and low morale, which can be exploited by NewZealand.

“I was surprised to see the team management saying openly that Babar’sinjury happened at the wrong time” Inzamam said.

He added “when you admit something like this, it gives an edge to theopposition. I didn’t like this statement.”

Inzamam believes that Babar will not be fit to take part in the first Testas well. He said that the doctors have advised at least 12 days rest toBabar and the first test is scheduled to begin on 26th December, whichgives Babar only one day of practice. Coming back from a fractured thumband playing straight away won’t be possible.
