ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Foreign Minister responds over media reports ofmisunderstanding between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Foreign Minister ShahMahmood Qureshi has said there has been no misunderstanding betweenPakistan and Saudi Arabia, rather the incumbent government has removed theones created in the past.
Talking to a private news channel, he said the elements desiring todisintegrate the Muslim world are creating such perceptions.
To a question about the perception of Kuala Lumpur Summit being raised as aparallel platform or against the OIC, he said it is not being held for thefirst time, rather Mahathir Muhammad had already organized such foursessions as his private initiative before assuming the office of theMalaysian Prime Minister.
He said Mahathir Mohammed has sent his foreign minister to Saudi Arabia toextend a formal invitation for the summit considering it a very vitalmember of the Muslim world.
He said such perceptions are being created and fanned by the elements whohave reservations over the Muslim countries joining heads to discuss theirsocioeconomic development and exploit their potential in the fields ofskills and technology.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said having cordial ties with Saudi Arabia andMalaysia and being an OIC’s founding member, Pakistan is supposed to playits role to improve the strained ties between the Muslim countries.
