Pakistani Ambassador Munir Akram launches diplomatic onslaught against India at the UN: Report

NEW YORK – Pakistan’s permanent representative to UN Munir Akram has askedUnited Nations General Assembly (UNGA) President Tijjani Muhammad-Bande toplay role for resolving Kashmir issue.

He urged the UNGA president during his meeting. He has impressed upon theUNGA president that international community must play its role to resolvethe Kashmir issue as it can become a flash point between two nuclear-armedstates.

During his meeting, the Pakistani envoy said that situation in IndianOccupied Kashmir (IoK), which has been under a repressive military lockdownfor over four months is now further worsening.

The ambassador apprised him that despite the lapse of one hundred days ofIndia’s inhuman curfew and blanket restrictions on all forms ofcommunications as well as systematic intimidation, normalcy has still notreturned and fear grips the disputed state.

Munir Akram also discussed in the meeting regarding Sustainable DevelopmentGoals with focus on the goal of zero hunger aimed at ending hunger,achieving food security, improving nutrition and promoting sustainableagriculture as well as measures to curb illicit financial flows.
