KARACHI – Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, the former chief justice of Pakistanhas been awarded with International Justice Excellence Award.
Justice Jillani will receive the prestigious award for his outstandingcontribution to the global elevation of the principles of justice inPakistan and the international community, International Institute forJustice Excellence link said in a statement.
Justice Jillani “authored many crucial opinions that addressed thefoundational principles of religious tolerance, gender neutrality andfreedom of conscience”, it added. “His scholarly opinions have contributedto the establishment of equal justice throughout the internationalcommunity,” it further read.

During his tenure, the former CJP highlighted the threat to democracies byhate speech on the Internet and also offered suggestions to curb suchdivisive language while maintaining freedom of expression.
