PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto slams PML-N

Taking a swipe at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), a formercoalition partner, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the Chairman of the PakistanPeoples Party (PPP), once again voiced his concerns about an unevenpolitical playing field for his party ahead of the upcoming generalelections in the country. He stressed that his grievances primarily revolvearound one specific party.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore after the PPP’s Central ExecutiveCommittee (CEC) meeting, Bilawal reiterated his demand for the ElectionCommission of Pakistan (ECP) to promptly announce the election date. Heclarified, “The concerns about a lack of a level-playing field pertain toone party. Hopefully, when all our issues are resolved, I will speak moreopenly.”

Bilawal mentioned that his party has reservations about the elections andother matters, and the PPP’s CEC has authorized PPP Co-Chairman Asif AliZardari to take appropriate actions in this regard. In an indirectreference to the PML-N, he stated that a political party, in collaborationwith General (retd) Shuja Pasha and former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, had “conspired to remove PPP from the political landscape in Punjab.”

However, he acknowledged that the PPP had paid a political price for whathe described as a “political mistake,” noting, “An ally seeks our help whenthey are in trouble, but when they recover, they turn against us.”
