The Supreme Court has ordered the repeal of the NAB (NationalAccountability Bureau) Amendment Ordinance, and more than 100 cases relatedto inquiries, investigations, and references will be reopened.
According to the details, after the Supreme Court’s decision to repeal theNAB Amendment Ordinance, over 100 mega corruption cases will be reopened.NAB Lahore has also initiated work on the revival of cases closed in thesugar mills scandal involving former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif andformer Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz.
Additionally, after the Supreme Court declared NAB amendmentsunconstitutional, many cases against politicians have been reopened. As aresult of the Supreme Court’s decisions, the Toshakhana reference againstAsif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, and Yousaf Raza Gillani has beenreinstated. Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s LNG (liquefiednatural gas) reference has been transferred to the accountability court,and the rental power reference against former Prime Minister Raja PervezAshraf has also been revived.
