DG ISI Lt General Nadeem Anjum given extension, hints top official

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar stated on Thursday that heintends to exercise his constitutional authority concerning the nationalsecurity issue of extending the Director-General of the Inter-ServicesIntelligence (DG ISI), as reported by ARY News.

During an interview on ARY News’ program ‘Khabar,’ PM Kakar neitherconfirmed nor denied the decision regarding the DG ISI’s extension. Heemphasized that this matter is not something that can be openly discussed,as it pertains to national security.

PM Kakar affirmed his commitment to following the law in all governmentactivities, suggesting that elections may occur soon but refrained fromspecifying a date. He assured that the caretaker government would adhere tolegal principles, regardless of its duration.

Regarding the concerns of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and thedecisions made by the Council for Common Interests (CCI), PM Kakar declinedto provide any statements.

Regarding the decline in the US dollar’s value, PM Kakar stated that thecaretaker government’s focus is on combating illegal activities nationwideand suggested that the USD might have dropped to Rs250 due to actionsagainst these illegal activities
