By elections: PML (N) faces worst setback

*CHAKWAL – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) faces another setback asthe party’s candidate has withdrawn from the election race from Chakwal’sNA-65 constituency.*

According to details, the PML-N candidate Faiz Tamman withdrew hisnomination papers on Saturday meaning rival Pakistan Muslim LeagueQuaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) candidate remains the only heavy weight in the contest.

Faiz Tamman was contesting by-polls against PML-Q chief Chaudhry ShujaatHussain’s son Salik Hussain.

By-polls a number of national and provincial assemblies’ constituencieswill be held on October 14, as per the schedule announced by the ElectionCommission of Pakistan (ECP) in August.

Eleven National Assembly and 26 provincial assembly seats fell vacant dueto different reasons, including resignations by those elected on more thanone seat and death of some contesting candidates.
