Two Passenger Planes Narrowly Escape Collision at Manchester Airport

Two EasyJet planes clipped wings while taxiing at Manchester Airport, temporarily disrupting flight operations, according to the airline and reports from The Independent.

Airport officials briefly closed the runway to allow for inspections of the aircraft involved. The affected flights were EZY2117 from Manchester to Paris Charles de Gaulle and EZY2267 from Manchester to Gibraltar.

An EasyJet spokesperson said, “We can confirm that the wingtips of two aircraft came into contact while taxiing to the runway this morning at Manchester Airport. The aircraft returned to the stand so passengers could disembark. Refreshment vouchers have been provided, and replacement aircraft are being arranged to operate the flights.”

The spokesperson added, “We apologise to our customers for the resulting delays. The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority.”
