Indian national arrested from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR – An Indian national was arrested from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s KurramDistrict on Wednesday, according to law enforcement agencies.

Security officials told the media that Ram Bahar entered Pakistan viaAfghanistan but was arrested at Parachinar airport.

The man, who hails from Gujarat state in India, only speaks his nativelanguage. He did not possess any relevant identification documents but isthought to be between the age of 35-36.

Further investigation is underway, the official said.

Last month, Pakistan and India exchanged lists of civilian prisoners andfishermen of each country through diplomatic channels in Islamabad and NewDelhi.

“This is consistent with the provisions of the Consular Access Agreementbetween Pakistan and India, signed on 21 May 2008, under which bothcountries are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’scustody twice a year, on 1 January and 1 July, respectively,” said astatement by the Foreign Office.
