ISLAMABAD – The office of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in Islamabad HighCourt (IHC) caught fire after the UPS installed blasted on Tuesday.
The explosion caused a short circuit in the electrical wiring leading tofire in the staff room of the Justice Siddiqui. The record in the roomremained safe as the fire was extinguished timely.
The judge, who heard several high profile cases, stayed unharmed as he wason a leave. The office has been closed for further investigation.
Siddiqui was elevated as additional judge of the high court on November 21,2011 to represent the Province of Punjab.
In February, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) had issued a show-causenotice to the IHC judge over two different complaints, filed by MNA JamshedAhmad Dasti and Kulsum Khaliq, alleging that the judge had givenunwarranted comments against army officials for playing their role inresolution of the Faizabad sit-in.
