Bilqis Bano Edhi, widow of Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away. She was a cardiacpatient and under treatment in Agha Khan Hospital in Karachi for the lastfive days.
She was a professional nurse and one of the most active philanthropists inPakistan link along with serving asco-chair of the Edhi link Foundation.
She has been nicknamed, The Mother of Pakistanlink. She was born in 1947 in Karachi.She heads the Bilquis link Edhilink, and with her husband receivedthe 1986 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service. Together with herhusband, their charity has saved over 16,000 unwanted babies. She wasawarded the prestigious ‘Hilal-e-Imtiaz’.
