ISLAMABAD – The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has submitted a review petition inSupreme Court against Faizabad sit-in case verdict.
The IB in its review petition prayed that the said verdict containedadverse observations against IB particularly in para 53(12) and 14 whichmay kindly be recalled and set a side.
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday filed a review petition in theSupreme Court (SC) seeking to expunge observations against it in Faizabadsit-in case judgment.
The commission submitted in its review petition that the apex court’sobservations with regard to the electoral body will have an adverse impacton its performance.
“If the observations are maintained, they will have an impact in the longrun,” it said.
The ECP said it acted against the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) as perlaw, which is evident from its record.On August 16, 2017, the TLP was served a notice to submit details of itsaccounts with a warning that upon failure, its registration will berevoked, it added.
The verdict’s para number four negated measures taken by the commission, itsaid, requesting the apex court to expunge observations against the ECPfrom the verdict.
