ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided names of former CJPJustice Tasadiq Hussain Jilani and former Governor State Bank Dr IshratHussain for top slot of interim PM.

PTI will forward names of its three nominees each for the next caretakerset-up at the federal and Punjab level.

The party’s senior leadership meeting chaired by PTI chief Imran Khan atBani Gala decided that PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi will meetwith the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shahto discuss the three names of the PTI nominees for the caretaker primeminister, said PTI Secretary Information Fawad Chaudhry.

He said that the names would be forwarded after a discussion with otheropposition parties. He refused to disclose the names at this stage.

Similarly, the meeting decided that PTI leader of opposition in the PunjabAssembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed would forward the names of three nomineesfor the next caretaker chief minister to Punjab Chief Minister ShahbazSharif. Rasheed would first discuss the names with other opposition parties.

Under the Constitution, the prime minister or the chief minister of theprovince concerned has to finalize the names of the caretaker primeminister and interim chief minister in consultation with the leader of theopposition concerned.

The top PTI leadership remained tight-lipped over the names finalized bythe party. According to a senior PTI leader, individuals of utmostintegrity from the judiciary and the bureaucracy had been shortlisted bythe party.

Fawad Chaudhry said that Khursheed Shah had also contacted the PTI todiscuss the next caretaker set-up. He said that in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa,where the PTI is in the power and in Punjab, where it holds the oppositionleader’s slot, the party has a constitutional role to finalize the names ofthe caretaker set-up.

He said that the meeting also discussed that the PTI would formally kickoff its general election campaign by holding a “massive” rally in Lahore onApril 29.
