Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority takes important steps over Coronavirus outbreak

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority takes important steps overCoronavirus outbreak.

The Civil Aviation Authority ordered mandatory disinfection and fumigationof aircraft between flights amid coronavirus outbreak.

A notification by the CAA said all airlines operating to and from Pakistanmust ensure disinfection and fumigation of aircraft the embarking anddisembarking of passengers.

The move comes a day after the National Security Committee (NSC) chaired byPrime Minister Imran Khan limited international flight operations to threeairports – New Islamabad International Airport, Allama Iqbal InternationalAirport and Jinnah International Airport as part of measures to contain thespread of coronavirus in country.

Consequently, the international flights from Quetta, Sialkot, Multan,Faisalabad and Peshawar redirected to the airports in Karachi, Islamabadand Lahore.

It is pertinent to mention that number of confirmed cases in Pakistan ofCOVID-19 has risen to 31 as of Saturday after three new cases reported; onefrom Islamabad and two from Karachi.

Karachi the worst affected city so far, with 17 of the total confirmedcases.

Remaining, five cases reported in Gilgit-Baltistan and one case reportedeach in Hyderabad and Quetta.

Furthermore Seven other cases reported at the Taftan border on Friday.
