Vladimir Putin orders withdrawal of forces from Syria

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the withdrawal of Russian Forces from Syria.

Putin claimed that Russian troops achieved their goal during its six months intervention in Syria.

Putin hold a meeting with Russian Defence and Foreign Ministers in Kremlin to take the action and talked with Syrian President Assad on the situation.

Putin said “The effective work of our military created the conditions for the start of peace process. I believe that task put before the defence ministry and Russian armed forces have, on the whole, been fulfilled.”

Russian defence Minister claimed that Russia will maintain its presence in Syria until the completion of peace process.

A UK based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed that Russian airstrikes killed at least 4,408 people including 1,733 civilians in six months intervention.

The Russian announcement of withdrawal came amid the start of Syrian peace talks in Geneva.

UN envoy called a peace talk conference in Geneva to end the Syrian conflict which has killed at least 260,000 people in 5 years and millions have been displaced from their homes.
