WASHINGTON: Official Sources claimed that Pakistan is planning to buy more F-16 fighter jets from US to match India’s defence purchases.
Jane’s Defence Weekly claimed that Pakistan is trying to buy ten more F-16 multi role fighter jets equipped with precision strike capability.
A “decision in principle has been made to buy 10 more F-16s,” a senior Pakistani government official told Jane’s.
Pakistan is purchasing eight F-16s from US which was criticized by India and India had also summoned US Ambassador in New Delhi in this regard.
A draft resolution was also presented in US Senate to block the sale which was rejected with a high majority.
Pakistan will purchase eight F-16 fighter jets from US worth $699 million which includes two single seat and 6 twin seat F-16s.
Pakistan is searching for a competitive technology with India’s defence purchases who is modernizing its military day by day.
