ISLAMABAD – *Frustrated India lashes out at Turkish President TayyipErdogan over strong support for Pakistan on Occupied Kashmir.*
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan support for Pakistan’s stand on theIndian occupied Kashmir (IoK) issue has infuriated India, as the countrywarned Turkey not to interfere in its internal matters.
“India rejects all references to Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integraland inalienable part of India,” said Indian External Affairs Ministryspokesperson Raveesh Kaumar on Saturday, reported Indian media outlet *ANI*.
“We call upon the Turkish leadership not to interfere in India’s internalaffairs and develop a proper understanding of the facts,” the spokespersonsaid, repeating the rhetoric that terrorism from Pakistan posed ‘threat’ toIndia and the region.
Erdogan during his address to a joint session of Parliament in Islamabad onFriday, highlighted Kashmir issue and offered Ankara’s backing to Pakistanin this matter. “Today, the issue of Kashmir is as close to us as it is toyou [Pakistanis],” he said, reiterating Turkey’s support for Kashmiris,” hesaid.
Referring to Kashmir multiple times in his address, Erdogan said, “ourKashmiri brothers and sisters have suffered from inconveniences for decadesand these sufferings have become graver due to unilateral steps taken inrecent times.
“Like in the past, we will continue to support Pakistan in the future,” headded.
