Big news reported over overseas jobs for Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD – Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development(MOP&HRD) and the Government of Japan have mutually agreed to activate theMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in December 2019link.

Under the MoU, Japan will import Pakistani manpower in more than 14 sectorsranging from construction, information technology, nursing, manufacturing,and engineering.

A high ranking official of MOP&HRD said that ministry officials have metwith representatives of the Japanese government at the counselor-level andreached a mutual agreement to activate the MoU.

Moreover, MOP&HRD officials discussed the establishment of a Japaneselanguage testing facility, skill development programs for Pakistaniworkers, and providing an Overseas Employment Promoters list to Japan.

Japan has been grappling with an acute shortage of both skilled andunskilled workers due to its aging and shrinking population. Following theimplementation of MoU, Pakistani workers would be able to work in Japan in14 different sectors and bridge the gap.

The MoU with Japan will be implemented on the same pattern as thegovernment to government agreement already in effect with South Korea. Theagreement with South Korea requires potential job seekers from Pakistan tolearn Korean and qualify in skill tests.

In this regard, a high-level delegation of the Japanese government willsoon visit the office of Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) atIslamabad. The delegation will examine the recruitment process in placethrough which South Korea hires Pakistani workers.
