PTI government to completely digitalise Pakistan Economy

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Planning and Statistics Division Makhdum KhusroBakhtyar has underlined the need for devising a strategy for automation ofdata collection in order to have authentic economic statistics for betterpolicy making.

The Minister, who also holds the additional portfolio of StatisticsDivision, was chairing the 16th meeting of the Governing Council ofPakistan Bureau of Statistics in Islamabad today (Tuesday).

The Minister urged the Bureau to devise a mechanism to deliver morereliable official figures relating to economy, population, agriculture,trade and other areas.

Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar also called for including ‘disabled’ column inPakistan Social and Living Standards Measurement questionnaire to developdisability estimates at the district level to help government devise policyfor betterment of handicapped persons.

During the meeting, Secretary Statistics briefed the Minister, amongothers, about the work done by the Bureau since its last meeting includingholding of 6thPopulation and Housing Census-2017.
