PTI government decides to go for home production of Mobile Phones, Computers and Laptops

ISLAMABAD – A second meeting of Prime Minister’s task force on IT andTelecom was held in Islamabad on Tuesday with Minister for InformationTechnology Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui in the chair.

The sub task force on IT gave recommendation for setting up of specialtechnology zones in the country for enhancing IT exports.

It was noted that image of our IT industry will enhance by establishingspecial technology zones.

Co Chairman of the task force Dr Atta ur Rehman also emphasized the needfor promoting domestic manufacturing of mobile phones, computers, laptopsetc. It was also proposed that IT related small and medium enterprisesshould be empowered by establishing special technology zones.

The members of the sub task force on Telecom proposed that 12.5 percentadvance income tax on internet must be zeroed.

The meeting was informed that one thousand union councils have fiber cableconnectivity and the target is to connect 3100 more UCs be connected withoptic fiber cables for broadband supply. It was also recommended to developa digital content of all subjects at school and college levels besidesgiving IT training to the students.
