Zainab rape, murder case investigation report submitted in LHC

LAHORE – The Registrar Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Monday submitted areport of the rape and murder of minor seven-year-old girl in Kasur in thecourt.

Chief Justice (CJ) Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Mansoor Ali Shah whilehearing the case observed that the provincial government should have takenaction after the first incident.

Director General (DG) Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) Dr MohammadAshraf Tahir informed the court that an unidentified serial killer, whoearlier had been involved in killings of seven other minor girls, strangledZainab.

The DG forensic department told the court that it has been verified throughDNA profiling that a single culprit is behind the rape and murder cases inKasur.

The LHC CJ remarked that the incidents of rape and murder started in June2015 but no major headway was made in the case.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah observed that Zainab would have been alive ifauthorities had taken action against the culprit.

Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan granted 36 hours to the Punjab Inspector Generalof Police (IGP) to arrest the culprit(s), besides submitting a detailedreport on the brutal killing of the minor girl in Kasur and ordered thePunjab IG to appear before the court on Wednesday.

The court later adjourned the hearing till January 17.
