Female Chinese national shot dead in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: With the arrival of the tens of thousands of Chinese nationalsin Pakistan either for the purpose of CPEC or otherwise for tourism andbusiness purposes the security of Chinese nationals is gradually becoming ahard task to be mantained.

Chinese nationals have been living and roaming freely in Pakistan dueimproved security however isolated incidences have been reported acrossPakistan over their free activities and the security related issues.

In a latest report A Chinese woman has died from gunshot wounds afterbeing shot in a robbery in the federal capital.

The Chinese embassy has confirmed the death on its website.

The woman was shot when three gunmen stormed a residence rented by a groupof Chinese nationals on Dec 29 in Islamabad. She was later transferred to anearby hospital for treatment.

According to local media, the gang opened fire at the 35-year-old woman andfled after looting Rs550,000 (nearly US$5,000) from the house.

No arrest has been made so far but the Chinese embassy has urged thePakistani side to arrest the perpetrators as soon as possible and protectthe legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens.

In June 2017, two Chinese nationals teaching Chinese in Pakistan werekilled in southwestern Pakistan’s Balochistan province after being abductedin May.
