McDonald's Pakistan has clarified that their local operation is entirely separate from the one in Israel, following criticism over the Israeli branch providing free meals to the military during the conflict with Hamas.
In a statement shared on a platform like Twitter, the company stated, "McDonald's in Pakistan is a locally-owned enterprise, fully managed by SIZA Foods Pvt Ltd Pakistan. We have no connection to McDonald's operations in Israel, which is independently owned by an Israeli enterprise."
This clarification comes after the social media hashtag #BoycottMcDonalds gained traction worldwide.
McDonald's Israel announced via Instagram that they would be providing free meals to Israeli soldiers through dedicated branches focused on aid and donations to security and rescue forces, pledging around 4,000 daily meals.
