*Asia and Nadia, Muslim converts from Ghotki, who were allowed by the Islamabad High Court to live with their husbands after a medical report confirmed they were adult at the time they changed their religion, say they are ‘very happy’ to be Muslims.*
Talking to ARY News in the program Bakhabar Sawera, Asia and Nadia said they had chosen to be Muslims and were not forced by anyone. “No one has pressurised us to accept Islam, we wanted to become Muslims since childhood”, said one of the girls.
They further said that their mother wanted them to come back to their parental home, but said they weren’t willing to do that.
“We cannot and don’t want to go back to home, we will live with our husbands”, said Asia, further adding that they hadn’t got a chance to become a Muslim earlier, and they were happy to have come into ambit of Islam now.
Their husbands, Safdar Ali and Barkat Ali spoke to ARY News in the same program and dismissed any impression that the girls were pressurised to change their religion.
They said that the women had testified before the court and the media that no one had forced them and they had changed their religion out of their free will.
They also said that India was behind the negative propaganda against Pakistan that the country is not safe for its minorities.
“Whenever a girl converts to Islam in Pakistan, its said that either they were underage or were kidnapped, both of things don’t hold true in this case”, they said.
