Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the industrial development is vitalfor economic growth and the government is committed to provideease-of-doing-business to the investors.
Chairing the 7th meeting of Board of Approvals for Special Economic Zonesat Islamabad today, he said economic activities generated by SEZs willincrease job opportunities for local skilled and un-skilled labour.
The Prime Minister directed to provide utility services includingelectricity and gas to the SEZs on priority.
The meeting was apprised that there are 19 SEZs notified in the country.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, MuhammadHammad Azhar, Senator Shibli Faraz, Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razaq Dawood,Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister KhyberPakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan, Chief Secretaries of Sindh and Balochistan andother senior officers of concerned departments. Chief Minister GilgitBaltistan and Deputy Governor State Bank joined the meeting via video link.
The Board approved SEZ Zone Enterprise Admission and Sale and Lease of PlotRegulations 2020.
The Board Meeting also approved launching of online SEZ ManagementInformation System whereby the approvals process will be digitalized andstreamlined and it will also act as a one-window for investors and willensure transparency.
