*ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) hasissued an advisory to all TV Channels over positive reporting, days afterISPR made an urge to media.*
*PEMRA has ‘advised’ news and current affairs channels to avoid excessivecoverage of crime, violence and sexual abuse.*
“All news and current affairs channels are, therefore, advised to ensurecompliance of PEMRA laws, including Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015and highlight the positive developments in the country,” the media watchdogsaid in an advisory.

It said that despite repeated requested, some news channels “are still inthe race to glorify crime news in prime time”.
PEMRA’s advice comes a few days after Pakistan Army spokesperson MajorGeneral Asif Ghafoor requested the media to project a positive image ofPakistan.
