Federal Ministers Ghulam Sarwar and Firdous Ashiq Awan land in hot waters: Report

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved its verdict againstFederal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar and Special Assistant to thePrime Minister Imran Khan on Information and Broadcasting (SAPM) Dr FirdousAshiq Awan in the contempt of court cases.

The case proceedings were headed by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah onThursday in which both the SAPM and Sarwar appeared. The IHC has reservedits verdict in both the cases and will announce the judgment on November 25.

During the hearing, the chief justice of the high court said that Sarwarwas a representative of the federal cabinet and raised questions on themedical board constituted by the government for Nawaz Sharif. The ministerreplied that he had only expressed doubts about the medical board, localmedia reported.

Justice Minallah said that by his statement, Sarwar tried to make peoplelose confidence in institutions and government . Sarwar offered anunconditional apology to the court. However, the IHC directed him to submithis reply. The aviation minister replied that he does not want to contestthis case that is why he is offering an unconditional apology.

In the last hearing, the court had decided to club the petition againstSarwar with contempt proceedings against Awan.
